Zindi challenge: predict whether a recorded death in Uganda was climate-sensitive.
- Blend of LightGBM, XGBoost, CatBoost and logistic regression over several seeds, scored on 0.6 × F1 + 0.4 × ROC-AUC
- Found that test locations never appear in training, so validated with StratifiedGroupKFold grouped by location rather than a random split
- Showed that weather and seasonal enrichments did not help under honest grouped CV, and kept a compact feature set
